It’s been well promoted that coaches Matt Hughes and Matt Serra don’t like
each other. Matt Serra thinks Hughes is arrogant and a bully and Hughes
thinks Serra isn’t good for the role model sport because of all the cussing
he does.
Arrogant, bully , cussing lots…..you know! I think they are talking about
UFC president Dana White.
We only got a small taste of the fighters personalities on the first
episode. So here’s my take;
Dan Barrera says he had a dream that god talkedto him and he was going on Matt Hughes team. Well he was right but remember “Dan the old” saying, “If you talk to god it’s praying but if god talks to you you your schizophrenic.”
Mac Danzig overly confident or arragont? I’m not sure about this kid yet. I don’t know if I like or hate him. Roman Mitichyan broke his elbow while working out at the start of the show. He’s out and gets replaced with Jon Koppenhaver.
The first fight of the season is between Mac Danzig (Team Hughes) vs. Joe Scorola (Team Serra). Danzig is the more seasoned fighter and is strong all around. Scorola is Matt Serra’s first black belt so he should be good on the
ground. Scorola first fight is against himself as the pre-fight jitters kick in. Serra does an excellent job trying to calm him dawn and get his mind ready.
Danzig is spilling over with confidence.
Round one both fighters circle and then clench. Danzig lands a decent knee to Scarola’s head and both fighter fall to the ground. Not much action at first then both fighters scramble and Scorola reverses and gets on top. Joe is having a hard time passing Mac’s guard. It’s near the end of the round and Danzig attempts a triangle choke and Scorola just stays there and lets him tighten the choke. There is only seconds left and you can hear Matt Serra screaming “don’t you dare tap”. Well he did with about 3 seconds left in the round. Mac Danzig wins by Triangle Choke in the first round.
It wasn’t the most exciting fight but well see what the rest of the season
brings.
Stay Tuned!
